The new "Karate Kid" movie doesn't have any Karate in it. It's actually about Kung-Fu.
Karate is a Japanese martial art. However, the new remake of The Karate Kid is set in China and features Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan. Hence, the movie uses Kung Fu instead of Karate. Despite these differences, it is still a remake, so it has the same name, even though the setting is different and it focuses on a completely different martial art.
The movie centers around a 12-year-old boy from Detroit who moves to China with his mother and gets bullied. He makes an unlikely ally in the form of a maintenance man, Mr. Han (played by Jackie Chan). Little does he know, the maintenance man is a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense and how to stand up for himself.
