It's Not Just About Martial Arts, It's About An Idea

When people think about martial arts they think about kicks and punches. Or they think about something their kids do growing up. They think about breaking boards or about the ability to fight.

These things are only representations of a journey into what I like to call "something more." At the end of the day, fighting is just fighting and breaking boards are just breaking boards. Honestly, the attainment of belts and practicing moves can seem silly at best to most people.

This "something more" is what martial arts were really founded upon - an idea involving a never-ending journey of self-improvement and constantly seeking more from yourself.

The whole premise of martial arts aims at gaining a higher level of awareness into yourself and how you interact with the world.

Really, martial arts embodies life's journey itself. This idea shouldn't be forgotten.
