Sacred Traditions
Nothing should be considered sacred in martial arts. Martial arts are all about you.
You own it. It doesn't own you.
Once it becomes sacred, you're becoming a slave to your style.
When my students become instructors, I want them to represent what I've taught them in their own unique way.
However, their ability to have this freedom is the foundations I teach them. How well they know these foundations and fundamentals will allow them to innovate and free themselves from tradition, routines and patterns.
I really don't like it when people try to say that their martial art is the best. Although everyone will have their own personal preferences, there really is no best martial art.
Martial artists shouldn't confine themselves by their system, style or method. They must focus on making their method work for them.
Martial arts should never be a religion.
It is your experience. Your mind and your body. The only thing sacred is you.
