Wing Chun Day
International Wing Chun Day 2011 was a good day for Wing Chun in Orange County. Wing Chun practitioners from several different lineages of Wing Chun / Ving Tsun / Wing Tsun joined together to honor the art made famous by Ip Man (aka Yip Man) and his student Bruce Lee.
New students as well as experienced students came together to share the day in this new tradition. Along with our Wing Chun family under Sifu Adam Williss, we had practitioners from a Vietnamese branch of Wing Chun stemming from Fok Bo Chuen (a non-Yip Man lineage), another from the Koo Sang lineage (Yip Man ) and others from the Wong Long lineage stemming from Hawaii (Yip Man).
What began as a small event promoted through Facebook in 2010, is now being recognized in countries all over the world. International Wing Chun Day was founded as a day to celebrate and raise awareness for Wing Chun in all its forms and branches.
A search for International Wing Chun Day on Google returned an amazing 136,000 results! Wing Chun practitioners in several countries paid homage to the new tradition by holding different local Wing Chun classes and events in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, USA and the UK.
